Direct Counsel is partnering with an Am Law 200 firm seeking a Business, Real Estate & Tax Attorney with at least 5 years of transactional tax experience to join its growing team in Oakland or Sacramento. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a respected and well-established practice, handling sophisticated commercial, real estate, and tax matters in a flexible and collegial work environment.
Role Highlights:

• Advise on tax implications of commercial transactions, real estate deals, and general corporate structuring
• Contribute to estate planning-related tax work (preferred but not required)
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team on business, real estate, and tax strategies
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents with precision and business acumen
• Deliver outstanding client service without needing to bring a book of business

Ideal Candidate:

• 5+ years of legal experience in transactional tax law
• Exposure to tax-related estate planning is a plus
• Strong understanding of real estate and corporate transactional work
• California Bar membership required
• CPA license and/or LLM in Tax preferred
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
• Team-oriented and client-focused with high professional standards

Compensation & Benefits:

• Starting base salary of $180,000+ (commensurate with experience)
